When the clock strikes twelve,
Meet me at the tower,
And we can dance on the staircase
Like we did in a dream.
When the clock strikes twelve,
Fly with me until
We lose ourselves completely
In the myriad of stars.
When the clock strikes twelve,
Take me far away,
And show me the world
As I have never seen it before.
When the clock strikes twelve,
Throw rocks at my window,
And call to me so sweetly
Once I step onto the balcony.
When the clock strikes twelve,
Sit with me by the fireplace
And open the book to our story—
A story eternal as love.

Simply lovely!
Thanks so much!
Reblogged this on little box of books and commented:
Very imaginative poem.
Wistful …
One of my favorite emotions to write about.
Which makes me realise that if I look over my collected writings, “wistful” doesn’t seem to appear. I will think about that some more; I wonder why it could be?
Everyone has their own style of writing. Maybe wistfulness hasn’t been an inspiration to you yet!
I think it’s more about a lack of wist in my emotional reactions to life and experience(s) rather than writing style. For instance, I have never wanted glass slippers.
Oh, you are so different than me… Those glass slippers will be mine someday
I hope so. I am quite content walking barefoot, with a pair of boots for any tough spots.
enjoy this entire piece. the first stanza is absolutely my favorite.
Thank you so much, Don!
After reading your lovely poem, I am going to sit by the fireplace where my wife has made a lovely fire. Thank you.
It’s my pleasure! I’m glad you liked it!
Beautiful! TY, I needed it today.
Thanks so much! It’s my pleasure!
Fairy-tale poetry… Makes me wish for glass slippers
Who doesn’t want glass slippers?
OH THIS IS GREAT.
So romantic, even the part about throwing rocks at your window.
Thank you! And for the throwing rocks part, I was using Romeo and Juliet as an inspiration
Oh you got me. (crawling underneath nearest table) I must have forgotten that was part of it. Really. I can’t remember back to tenth grade. ACK!
Haha don’t worry, it happens to the best of us
Really great idea! I have always loved fairy tales and that just made it even better!!!
