If I could send you
A message in a bottle,
Would it reach you
Where you stand
Alone
On the shore?
Where you stand—
With the waves lapping
At your feet—
Where you stand,
Gazing out
Across the ocean blue—
Gazing out
Towards the sun
On the horizon,
Where you could find me
If you chose
To someday set sail—
To set sail
Through the storms
And through the wind—
Just as my message
Sailed across
To get to you.

Lovely!! Thank you
It’s my pleasure!
Glad you liked it!
Wow, not only is the poem absolutely beautiful, but you’ve found the perfect picture to go along with it! I’m a sucker for anything to do with beaches, the ocean, or loneliness though. Big Jimmy Buffet fan, haha!
Makes me want to write a sonnet.
I’m glad I inspired you!
It’s like a dream…is fate real? Would the message really get there to the one you wish? In my dreams…
I know, right? I wondered that while writing this.
I have so often wondered what would happen if I did that. You hear those stories sometimes, of a person finding a bottle halfway around the world. It would be interesting to meet the person who found it, if they did, of course.
Yes! And imagine finding one and meeting the person who sent it! That would be amazing.
